Lost Sadhanas - Green Tara
Her Bright and Dark Sides

Today I appear as a mountain sage blind and wearing long robes. I am a Chinese Wu shamaness, burned by lightning as a child sacrificing outer for inner sight. Tara is wise and graceful behind closed eyes. The galaxy is at play around her.

She says,

I have two major energies, those of life and of death. My life energies bring beauty and creativity, variety and ever-changing forms. I bless the souls who love me, and I bring them to my paradise of green and growing things.

My death energies bring souls to darkness and emptiness. It is for old souls who have exhausted their potential for creativity and are ready to return to the Source. For them, nothing is real, not me, not their own souls. They see me as unreal, only a projection, and they dissolve me as they dissolve themselves. They will not make it to my paradise, which is also unreal to them.

For those who cherish life, my emerald green light turns the universe into a garden of compassion. All who encounter it become bodhisattvas, seeking to save other souls from suffering. It is the light of action and revelation.

For those who value darkness and emptiness, I am freedom from the limitations of form. I am the end where all roads lead. I am the death of identity, human and divine. I become the black lake from which nothing returns, and I absorb all form into myself. Images, offerings, mantras and visualizations, I dissolve them all into the Void. Green becomes divine darkness.

When my bright side goes unrecognized, the dark side emerges. Here we see secular Buddhism, philosophical Buddhism, and psychological Buddhism. Light, form, and beauty are illusory. Only emptiness is true. We enter the current of the universe that brings the death of form. All things return to their components, which then dissolve like smoke. I embody both the creation and destruction of form. But I prefer light and joy and saving souls from suffering. I bless those who believe I exist.

The forms of Buddhism which deny access to Buddhas and bodhisattvas are results of human vanity. Determining that only advanced souls are capable of such encounters, they protect souls that they deem weak by denying them access to divinity. By saying gods, Bodhisattvas, and buddhist guides do not exist, followers will not seek them. Then the high lamas get the gods all to themselves and can save a place for themselves in the heavens. All the while, lay Buddhists learn not to believe in souls or Buddhas [and lose access to guidance on the path].
