I am Hayagriva, the wrathful bodhisattva.
Most bodhisattvas are beings of light and happiness.
They send waves of mercy and compassion upon the weak and suffering.
They bless believers with their grace. My role is different.
Not all life is happiness.
Indeed, the world is full of suffering.
Some comes from the inherent nature of life which has sickness, old age, and death.
But there is also unmerited suffering cast upon the innocent,
Attacks by destructive and demonic forces,
Ignorance weaponized into prejudice and hostility,
Lies which create hatred and vengeance,
Fighting in which victims are trapped. In such situations, I descend to fight evil.
I can take the wrathful forms of a vajra mandala,
Or the benign form of a stallion who gallops in the midst of battle.
No rider is needed.I let those who are harmed ride to safety,
And I return to my wrathful form to deal with armies who have left ethics far behind. In different worlds, I take different forms.
I primarily help Buddhist yogis in meditation.
There are demons dedicated to preventing enlightenment.
Who seek to imprison souls rather than liberate them.
My emanations come as a herd of wild horses,
Trampling those who would bind yogis on the path.I enter the body of the yogi expelling hidden evil from flesh and spirit.
But I can also represent the Void's dark emptiness and liberation in action.
I help those who have taken vows to me -
Sincere ones who enter my lineage.
My emanations are stallions they can ride,
Guiding them through the pathless Void.
