The Medicine Buddha - Healing the Layers of the Self

The Medicine Buddha first appears as a sphere the color of a peacock's neck. His radiant beams of light are like peacock feathers that emerge in all directions.

His throne is in the midst of the sphere, royal blue in the midst of cerulean blue. His natural form is light but he can be a mirror to match the expectations of observers. And he takes on a human form. He is the blue king with globe and golden crown inset with sapphires holding a vase of golden nectar that is gold and blue.

His peacock feather aura ends in clusters of tiny sapphires and aquamarines. He calls the winds of healing and harmony and these tiny gems are spread throughout the universe. They are secret pathways to his paradise.

Suitable karma will cause beings to find these jewels. If they have been initiated and educated, they will know the way to turn the gems into keys that open the gates of the supernatural worlds.

The body of the tantrika or yogi may remain still but the soul must prostrate before the gem. The gem may then allow the karmic veils to rise so the the soul's spiritual sight may be clarified.

The visit [to the paradise] must have a reason. All meditation must begin with a sankalpa or statement of intention. This includes what is sought from the meditation and where the merit or demerit from the meditation should be directed.

Within the sphere of blue light, sounds are hollow and empty. The layers of awareness that are normally compressed like plywood are separated out so the [karmic] problems in each layer are exposed.

The soul or if you prefer, the self that incarnates in life after life has karma deeply imprinted into its millions of layers. These layers must be separated and individually purified. If they are not separated, it is difficult or impossible to remove karmic problems. It would be like trying to find a tiny seed compressed somewhere in a tall stack of plywood that is under thousands of pounds of pressure.

Sometimes I am like a plumber - sucking pain from dark emotional waters. Sometimes I am like a vacuum cleaner moving between the many separate layers of self to draw out the karmic burrs and hooked seeds. If they are not removed, they will hurt the soul in future lives.

If the problems that brought the devotee or yogi to seek healing are superficial, this spring cleaning will enliven the soul and make it stronger and healthier. But for deeper problems, removing one layer will just allow another layer to rise. So the blessings of the Buddha for the soul's future are limited by their behaviors from the past and have less healing power due to such past problematic behavior.
